Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Bonding Process

 


The result is a composite material system with an intermetallic bond that is configured to meet your exact specifications and quality requirements. Benefits of using clad metals include improved product performance, reduced material costs, simplified production processes, and reliable metal consistency.

To assure the best possible bond, the process is performed in a controlled atmosphere that prevents oxidation or the introduction of impurities at the bond interface. The result is a clad metal system with thicknesses ranging from 0.002” to 0.250” and widths up to 4.00”, with individual components as thin as 0.000025”.

Polymet uses both conventional and proprietary bonding techniques to produce metals of superior bond integrity and quality. Our multiple state-of-the-art bonding lines are designed to provide our customers with long continuous coils of material that consistently meet and exceed end user production requirements.
